What makes Pasco County Special

Love Those Snowbirds

Some of the things that make Pasco great are the snowbirds. These people have worked all their lives, sacrificed and saved, so that one day they could spend their winters in the South, away from the cold and snow. With them they have brought years of knowledge and experience that they enjoy sharing with others. Some want to just relax and enjoy their surroundings. Others like to participate in the many activities in their parks and in the area. Others like to lead projects and head committees. Unlike tourists, the snowbirds can pick and choose what they would like to do. If it is cool and rainy, we can skip an event and attend next year. We can always depend on things happening at the same time and place. For example: the kumquat festival is always the last Saturday in January; the car show is the second weekend in November, and the flea market in Zephyrhills is open on Tuesday and Thursday. Regular activities are always changing and getting better. New things are always appearing. No matter how long you live here, you will always be able to find something new or different to do. We are thankful for the people that live here year-round, for the government officials, for the store owners and the people who generate services for us. We are not tourists; we are not rich financially. We cannot afford $50 + a day for entertainment, but we are rich in the friends we make and the things we share. We are thankful for the ability to be called “snowbirds.”
