Travelers arriving at Tampa International Airport generally haven’t had too much trouble leaving the airport. Local road closures due to construction have been confined to evenings.
That doesn’t mean there haven’t been problems for travelers arriving late at the airport.
A few months back, hundreds of travelers got caught in a huge traffic jam when some lanes were closed just as a handful of flights were delayed.
The potential for the same thing happening again just got higher this week. Road construction will cause southbound George Bean Parkway to be closed between 12:30 and 4:30 a.m. this week.
If at all possible, don’t take a late flight into Tampa this week. It could be delayed and cause you to get caught in the gridlock.
