As the newcomers to school, kindergartners had to spend a little time learning the ropes on their first day.
Deer Park teacher Elizabeth Weber walked her charges through classroom routines of how to signal you need a bathroom break, how to line up at the door and how to know when to quiet down.
Then she told them about a special kiss.
“What are we doing, kissing in kindergarten?” Weber said. “I’m going to kiss my hand. Then I’m going to kiss my brain.”
“Eww!” several children yelled.
Weber puckered up, pecked her fingers and then touched them to her forehead.
“We are the smartest cookies in the whole school,” Weber said. “Kiss your brains!”
