“It’s Horrific”

9:36 a.m.
In many ways, USF is still a commuter campus.
Yes, the university expects thousands more students to live on campus in the coming years. And officials are planning multimillion-dollar residence halls to accommodate them. But the half-mile span from the Administration Building to Fowler Avenue now is bumper-to-bumper with cars trying to enter ANY parking lot.

Roller blading sure beats the parking problem at USF.

Then they try to find ANY open spot, speeding toward any car that shows signs of reversing. Woe to the pedestrian who isn’t watching carefully while walking between cars.

“It’s horrific,” said Matthew Bray, a 21-year-old history major, after driving around for 20 minutes before finding a spot for his red Volkswagen.
What time’s your class?
“9:30. Yes, I’m officially late,” he says while walking past cars decorated with parking tickets. “It’s the first day of school. It’s probably going to get better after this.”
