As the crowds thinned and made their way to the parking lots, Sonja Moffett of Tampa was near tears.
“I’m inspired by him as a person,” Moffett said. A single mother, she said his background gives her hope for her son.
“It’s a defining moment for me. Whether he wins or not, he’s given hope to me. He represents opportunity, and that’s something I haven’t felt in the past eight years,” she said. “That’s why I’m so emotional.”
She plans to take an Obama-Biden poster home to frame for her son.
At 38, she’s out of work and had a job interview today just before learning of the rally. She left the stadium the same way she got in, climbing over a chain link fence between the University of South Florida parking lot and the stadium.
