Boot Camp Trial

“I’m Beyond That Now”

1:33 p.m. - Central Time

Henry Dickens, one of the exonerated drill instructors, said he grew up in the segregated south and witnessed integration and wishes race no longer mattered.

“All this black and white stuff should be over with,” said Dickins, who is black. “It shouldn’t even be an issue.”

Racial strife was something that haunted his time, it shouldn’t haunt the current time, he said.

Dickens said that he and all the drill instructors are very sorry that this happened and never intended any harm to Anderson. He also said that he is very sorry that this incident caused the closure of all the state’s juvenile boot camps.

“Now these kids have nowhere to go,” he said, “no one to help them. If I had one wish, it would be to have these boot camps back.”

As Dickens spoke, a car drove by the courthouse and a young man yelled, “Murderers!” out the window.

Dickens said it doesn’t bother him.

“I’m beyond that now.”

Is it any wonder that our kids don’t trust law enforcement?  When celebrities and law enforcement people go to trial, the rules are different than for the rest of us.
Perhaps this can be moved to federal court and they can be tried for violating his civil rights.

This is excellent news. Justice has prevailed over the negative portrayal of the guards , and nurse in the media, and confirms the fact that jurors have no alterior motives....don’t believe me?? just ask the OJ jury.

Unreal.....

Even with video, these people got off. My heart goes out to the family of the boy who died. Society has a tendency to look at you as a number when you get into trouble. I know he had problems - they were well documented. People are probably going to blame the parents, upbringing, friends - whatever. This boy did not have to die. The small amount of respect I had for the “justice system”, just went down the toilet. Again, thought and prayers are with the family. They fought hard.
