Anytime there is a major storm that is forecast to come anywhere near the Florida area...it needs to be watched!!! That means, that you need to check that hurricane kit and start thinking of your plan of action if the storm does threaten us.
Right now, the models are still not in agreement on where Ike will be 4-5 days out. Here’s what we know about it in the short term: Upper-level winds will help weaken the storm for the next 24 hours. Then, those winds will weaken, and that will allow Ike to strengthen again. An area of high pressure will build north of Ike and help to slow the storm down a bit. However, it is this high pressure that will eventually turn Ike to the northwest. The problem is, the models aren’t sure when that turn will happen! That turn will be very critical for determining possible landfall.

I’M HAVING PROBLEMS DETERMINING JUST WHERE IKE WILL STRIKE, AND WHAT CATEGORY IT WILL BE.
