Graduate student Alexandra Phillips initially backed Dennis Kucinich, but she voted today while wearing a gray “Obama For Your Mama” T-shirt.
“I do support a lot of his ideas,” she said of Barack Obama. “Most importantly, he did not authorize the war.”
Phillips, a 30-year-old South Tampa resident who plans to become a librarian, also voted against Amendment 1.
The apartment dweller said she believes the amendment’s passage would hurt libraries.
“If I vote yes, I lose my job at the library,” she said.

God bless libraries and the library staffers that run them!! That was just one of the reasons why I voted against the amendment. As an ex-libary worker myself, I don’t think crucial public services like the library and education should suffer because everyone would like to save a few bucks on taxes. Surely there are other ways of decreasing property taxes than cutting the services that we ALL rely on, and all those folks who voted for it will be the first ones to complain when county services are further cut. Thinkk long term people!
