Hillsborough County school officials reported a smooth opening with normal delays and long car lines. As of late morning, one bus, No. 4107 to Freedom High School, had broken down, and students transferred to another bus, said Linda Cobbe, a district spokeswoman.
The district’s transportation call center remained busy, Cobbe said, although parents received an odd tone that caused some to hang up. Parents should remain on the line despite the flat tone until a voice or recording answers and they are placed on hold, she said. The number is (813) 982-5500.
