Exxon Mobil Corp., the world’s largest publicly traded oil company, set an industry record with a third-quarter net profit of almost $10 billion. Its quarterly revenue of more than $100 billion was greater than the annual gross domestic product of some of the largest oil-producing nations. Royal Dutch Shell also posted its best results ever.
As you pay some of the highest prices ever for gasoline at the pumps, do you have a message you want to send to these oil companies?
Send your comments in the form below. Include your full name, email address and location so we can contact you. Some comments may be published on TBO.com, the Tampa Tribune and WFLA News Channel 8. Telephone numbers and emails will not be published.
Enough is enough. This country needs a system of high regulation for the oil companies. These oil companies are down right taking advantage of the American people. They make higher and higher profits and our economy is going farther down the drain. How much more needs to happen before the light bulb turns on.
...Continued… Part 3 The results of such a procedure would be this. 1 The reduced gas prices and the intelligent usage of existing waste. 2 Fossil Fuel Companies would be forced to lower there exuberant prices. 3 The economy would be stimulated because of the overall drop in cost for products because they would cost less as fuel is the main reason for the increase in product prices as it cost more to produce and deliver the products. 4 We would no longer need to be dependent on the whim of the oil lords. 5 We a country who fights terrorism would not be funding it at the same time.... Thanks for reading.... (If we cannot find a way...We will make one. Hannibal.)
...Continued.... Would you like to get oil without drilling for it??? You say How? Simple. Almost any substance under pressure can be turned into oil in about an hour and has been in the laboratory. So if all garbage disposal companies converted there garbage into oil then turned around and sold it they would not be under any of the quote “union like” agreements like all the gas stations are and they could sell their gas at $2.00 a gallon and make a killing. Why??? 1 They get paid to pick up the garbage. 2 They could generate their own fuel for their collection trucks and other equipment at a nominal price compared to there current expenditures. 3 They could sell the gas at an extremely low and cost effective price.
Hello,
You know that we have enough oil in the gulf and in Alaska to keep us from buying one penny worth of Arab oil and the price of getting it here is cheaper… why not? Well a few pig headed men and women in DC are freaking out about pollution and saying that we couldn’t destroy our environment but we should buy our oil from the terrorist..... Great so they can destroy our environment… like they did the twin towers. Further more we are quote destroying there environment. Every nation that has oil should pull it’s own weight… right? continued....
I have been reading a lot of comments on a few different web sites, and the bottom line is the huge amounts of profits these oil companies are making. I think that there is NO person or company on earth that is worth so much money. And I feel that it is the governments responsibility to step in and do something about it.
We took a trip to Colorado in our pickup truck. Driving through Texas and New Mexico I noticed hundreds of well head pump horses that were new and not pumping.
I asked at a service station and he said there were quotas on how much each well could pump and when that amount was reached, the pump had to be shut down until the next month.
Can this possibly be true. Exxon keeps talking about needing these criminal profits to pay for exploration....and we can’t pump what we have already found???
Then there is the GM hydrogen car that runs on sea water. That would blow their minds. Check out the link below: http://www.youtube.com/v/ry6w3mRm-FM
We DO NOT HAVE TO DRIVE so much!I for one am going to start today to figure ways to drive less!
Now that prices are going under $2.00, perhaps we should extend some corporate welfare to the oil companies to help them during this crisis!
These Christ Punchers are robbing us for everything we got.It makes me just want to die like they want me to.
hello,my name is todd hurlburt and i am a documentary filmamker, . I am working on a new project with a shell gas station owner, Mr Medhi Shahbazi, (google his name)please see webpage, http://www.pumpinmnad.com
I begin production on August 12, 2006. does your group or do you know of anyone in the central california specifically on the monterey peninsula that would be interested in appearing in the documentary. also please forward me any emails of computer generated info you may have relating to the high cost of oil and the negative impact it has had on american consumers. i look forward to hearing from you, todd hurlburt
Folks wake up Its about a rich not too smart puppet, namely GWBush the junior ...oil soaked to the gills.... the buck stops here .... forget hybrids and etc etc dont you think we could produce cars that are gas misers..shucks… we can put men on the moon ......sure we can and could have . However, our political representatives have all failed us .. where are they now counting their bucks.........Oil companies with billions of profit dollars and we the little guys paying through the nose...??? its not about hybrids its about the oiled sliks in office ..... dont ya think ?
Everyone needs to buy hybrids to slow the use of oil consumption and decrease pollution. Toyota has a great car called a prius that gets 60 mpg I bought a corolla that gets 35-37mpg.
Why does the pump prices rise as the crude prices rise? If those current crude prices are for the oil currently located in the oil producing nations, then how is it justified to increase the pump price for oil purchased then refined and delivered to a service station before the current priced crude oil is bought? The current pump gasoline was purchased/produced at a different price than oil “still in the ground” ! PS: I’ll vote Democratic ticket !You keep making your mistakes !
I don’t care, you just want my money!!!
Ever since the oil crisis in 1972 there has been hardly any research done to prevent from the same thing happening again. Why dont we learn from the past?? If we had electric cars that could only go 100 miles between charges that would be sufficient for most of todays comutors. I hope all you suv and big gas guzzlers are happy with your cars. I see in the future all these cars on the used car lots and nobody to buy them. Again thanks to toyota for seeing the future and making the right cars for these times. Again we were cought with our pants down.
Gasoline prices are getting close to $3.00 gal. once again. The oil companies are reporting record profits.I suppose this is what you get for having an oil soaked president of the u.s.a. It is plain to see that Bush does not care for the citizens of the U.S.A. He is only concerned with making himself along with his cronies even more wealthy. Anyone else would give something back to the nation that made them so stinking rich. But not our prez....he just keeps sticking it to the people that arejust trying to get by. Wake up America. We are being driven to the poor house while Bush, Cheney and friends are swimming in money.
Funny how the war in Iraq coincides with record oil profits. If I don’t know we’re in Iraq to control their oil and the supply of oil hit me with the idiot stick. How many more children the age of James Dungy will be blown up for Bush and his friends?
Exxon is a perfect example of the EVIL that operates in this world. It says in 1 Timothy 6:10 “that the love of money is the root of all evil”. Certainly, Exxon expresses the love of money when people are hurting, starving and being victimized due to Hurricanes and other disaters that effect our economy. $9 billions in profit for the quarter estimates to about $100K a second for the 90 days of 1st quarter. How charming is that??
I must admit, I was wrong. I was in sales selling cutting fluids and coolants for companies like Exxon-Mobil, Castrol and Texaco. I am now out of work “due to the economy”. The above companies had a price increase Jan. 1, May 15th, July 15th, (I lost my job July 8th) they’ve had another price increase since I left and I’ve heard another is in store before years end! Try to justify to your customers, why they are paying such an outrageous price for their product, when oil companies are reporting “record” profits. We have more oil in the form of oil shale in Colorado and the surrounding states than all of the Middle East combined. We just need to find a way to economically mine and process it. It is PAST time for America to wake up!
ITS A SHAME WE HAVE A PRESIDENT AND HIS STAFF THAT DONT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WHEN WE HAVE TO SPEND OUR HARD EARNED DOLLARS ON INFLATED GAS PRICES.WITH ALL THE TRAGEDYS WE HAVE INDURED IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS THE OIL COMPANYS DONT SEEM TO CARE. ITS CALLED STICK IT TO AMERICA FOR THE ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR.I HOPE IN THE NEAR FUTURE WE GET OUR TURN.ITS TIME GEO.W BUSH AND HIS OIL BUDDIES WAKE UP AND HELP THE PEOPLE.
I cannot believe there are ppl. that just don’t get it !! Roth for one !!
Just let the oil companies make huge profits ?...what has happened to us ? Don’t you get it ?????? Wake up !...or is it too late ?
Considering their at risk investment and expenses to get us the energy we so love to squander away with our inefficiencies, they should be making more profits....Good for them!
Was there ever a time long ago when oil companies were decent?
My father was a factory worker for Sinclair oil (now split into BP or ARCO), who had to go on strike in the 60’s just to get a nickel an hour raise!!
After he passed away at the age of 90 several years ago I inheirited his company stock. The tactics they used through their company quarterly magazine to get stock-holders to lobby against govermental environmental regulations were so underhanded and devious that it made me sick. I sold the stock out of conscience within a year of inheiriting it.
What did the public expect by electing this president with all his ties to the oil industry!?!
I’m organizing a group of people to get the word out of a month long boycott of Exxon/Mobil for the month of November. We are working on protesting in front of stations throughout the bay area as well as posting signage on personal autos telling others of the boycott. December will be BP/Amocos turn. Come on folks. It is time to be heard.
Let’s see, now. Back in the mid ‘50s I vaguely remember a basic economics course. In effect it went along with the theory that if the raw material price increases, and you maintain the same profit MARGIN, your gross profits remain the same. Guess this has changed somewhere along the way. The Yale school of economics has its advantages.

It what you get when you elect a president in bed with big oil along with a very corrupt lobbing system.
