GOP Goes After ACORN, Obama

Two national Republican Party officials today went off on ACORN, the community organizing, voter-registration group that has become the party’s latest bete noire, suggesting the group has engaged in a systematic, nationwide attempt “to subvert our election system.”

They offered few facts to back up the charge, however.

Citing one obviously phony registration form among those turned in to Florida officials by ACORN—in the name Mickey Mouse—and investigations in other states, RNC spokesman Danny Diaz and counsel Sean Cairncross suggested that ACORN is “piling fraudulent forms” on election officials desks and “bogging down the elections system.”

Diaz called it “a quasicriminal organization” that’s “engaged in extensive fraud.”

Diaz and Cairncross, however, didn’t specify how many fraudulent registration forms have come from ACORN in Florida or cite evidence of any fraudulently registered voters or ballots cast.

They also didn’t answer directly when asked why Secretary of State Kurt Browning and Gov. Charlie Crist publicly have said they see no problem with the organization’s voter registration work.

ACORN officials acknowledge some of the registration forms turned in by their workers have been falsified and that they have sought to warn elections officials about them—but they’re not allowed by law not to turn in forms they gather. ACORN also has suggested saboteurs are setting up the organization by producing fraudulent forms.

The main point of the GOP conference call was to bash Barack Obama for his links to the group. As a civil rights lawyer in Chicago, he once represented them in a case in which the group, the U.S. Department of Justice, the League of Women Voters and others were suing the state over enactment of a federal voter rights law.

Obama later conducted two hour-long training sessions the Chicago ACORN affiliate, unpaid, and in February his campaign paid an ACORN affiliate $800,000 for get-out-the-vote work. ACORN has endorsed him.

the Republicans claimed Obama has been “less than truthful” because in descriptions of his involvement with the group in press interviews recently, he didn’t mention all those details.

Hey March....what do you mean “little evidence”? Are you really saying the accusations against A.C.O.R.N.  are politically motivated? lets review the FACTS ; (St. Louis)—Eight people face federal voter fraud charges for work they performed in support of a Missouri minimum wage ballot item in 2006.

Two Colorado ACORN workers were sentenced to community service, in January 2005, for submitting false voter registrations.

There have been numerous CONVICTIONS of A.C.O.R.N. members across the nation.

Here’s an Idea, try not polluting the net with your biased nonsense, you nobody likes an intellectual coward.

It is amazing to me how many people BHO has surrounded himself with in the past and the present and the left sees it as okay. When I was growing up, my family taught me that you are judged by your actions and those with whom you associate. BHO lack of judgement when it comes to his sphere of influence should be cause for concern for anyone capable of critical thinking!

Just my thoughts!

Obama is a citizen of Indonesia that has slipped in and is running illegally for President. His birth certificate posted on his site is a fraud and investigated by a company that he helped get a $550 million grant. all of this will come out before elections. ACORN is registering dead people and all of the trash of America and I hope that many of them are arrested. I don’t know why the Democrats are behind Obama as they would have had a better chance with Hillary. Illegal Chicago politics as usual. It did not stop with Al Capone or the Kennedys.

I find it very odd that the GOP is attacking ACORN now, and insinuating that ACORN is working for Obama. The fact is that both candidates have at one point or another vied for the attention of ACORN. In 2006, Jonh McCain was the Keynote speaker at the ACORN national conference. Yet another example of the GOP trying to supress the minority vote.

GO OBAMA!

A goldfish’s lifetime ago, Sen. John McCain was happy to accept the honors and acclamation of the Service Employees International Union, People for the American Way, UNITE HERE— and ACORN.  Here he is, on Feb. 20, 2006, telling immigration rights activists at a rally in Miami that they “are what makes America special.” ACORN co-sponsored the rally, and its volunteers surround McCain, and while there’s no evidence that McCain ever formally teamed with the group, the video serves as a reminder that he did not mind being associated with them when the politics of the moment were different.

The election is too close for the intense investigation this warrants. It seems that here in FL there shouldn’t be a lot of concern on election day. You show up without your driver’s license or social security card & you do NOT vote. Very plain and simple.
