Tampa International Airport is no longer 0 for May when it comes to rainfall. The airport measured 0.27 of an inch Saturday, the first rain at TIA this month, leaving us just shy of an inch below normal for May.
The weather service says there’s a small chance of rain and even thunderstorms across West Central Florida today and Monday with a 30 percent shot at some rain. Most of the rain will be between about noon and sunset. Any storms that form will move to the east or northeast. This is from a front that’s dissolving over the Tampa Bay area.
There’s a smaller chance of rain Tuesday from a front that’s supposed to move through here Monday.
Then by next weekend, another front may arrive and bring a 20 percent rain chance Saturday and Saturday night.
In between the rumors of rain temperatures will be in the low 90s during the middle and end of the work week. By then humidity levels will climb and mix with the rising temperatures.
It’s likely on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday that the heat index will edge close to the 100 level during the middle of the afternoons as dew points head into the low 70s.
