Add a big feather in the cap of first-time candidate Pam Bondi, the former Hillsborough County prosecutor running for the GOP nod for attorney general.
She was endorsed today by the Florida Chamber of Commerce over her rivals, Holly Benson and Jeff Kottkamp.
The endorsement “reflects the chamber’s belief in Bondi’s common-sense approach to law enforcement, consumer protection, and upholding Florida’s constitution,” according to the chamber’s Website.
“Pam Bondi’s nearly two decades of courtroom experience makes her the best prepared candidate for attorney general,” said Mark Wilson, president and CEO of the chamber. “Her years as a prosecutor and unshakable pro-business convictions provide her the tools she needs to excel as Florida’s top law enforcement officer.”
The endorsement means the chamber is encouraging its 139,000-member businesses and organizations to pledge their support to Bondi, according to the chamber.
This was the first time the chamber ever endorsed in the attorney general’s race, she said.
“I am so extremely honored to have the chamber’s support,” said Bondi.
Bondi said she hopes the endorsement sends a message to chamber members.
“I hope it shows my position as someone who is extremely pro-business.”
