Rain and storms won’t be as widespread today but they still will be in the forecast. We are in a reverse summertime pattern and the atmosphere is still a bit unstable. With highs in the 90s and lots of sun, storms are expected to light up the radar. Today’s storms aren’t expected to be severe but they could produce gusty wind, and VERY heavy rain. Keep the umbrella handy and if you see the skies darken move to shelter until the rain passes. Make sure to drink lots of water too! The feels like temperatures will be approaching (and possibly exceeding) 100 degrees!
Evening temperatures will slowly fall through the 80s. Most of the fireworks displays should go off without any problems but a few storms could still be around. (Remember I’m a meteorologist not a magician. I’ll try to keep the radar dry but it’s summertime in Florida.) I’d keep the umbrella or poncho handy just in case. Also take a trash bag or two to sit on if you’ll be in the grass. The ground is pretty saturated and I don’t think anything is enjoyable when you have a wet bottom.
Have a great and SAFE 4th of July! Thanks to all who have served and continue to serve to protect our great country!
