Thanks to a front that’s stalled and will fall apart over the peninsula, we stand a good chance of seeing some rain, possibly even some thunderstorms.
Most of the rain should come between 1 and 8 p.m., with the best chance from Tampa south. Rain chances are only about 40 percent in Hernando County, compared with 60 percent in Tampa. There’s also a better chance of rain from Tampa south on Tuesday.
The rain Sunday night and this morning slathered about one-quarter inch over most of the real estate from Hernando County through Sarasota County. A few places — such as in and around Sarasota, eastern Hernando and Interstate 4 between Lakeland and Tampa — got an inch or more.
A cold front coming Friday and Saturday could bring the next chance of rain. And the weather service expects some drier and cooler air Sunday.
But this time of year a cold front doesn’t really do much to change the temperature — maybe 89 instead of 91.
