A Winter Haven teenager was hurt in a crash involving a Ford Mustang and an unloaded school bus in Lakeland this morning.

A passenger in the Mustang, Courtney Reese, 14, was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center after the 7 a.m. crash at East Lake Parker Drive and Memorial Boulevard, said Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Larry Coggins. Details of her injuries were not available.

There were no children on the school bus.

Coggins gave this account of the crash:

Bus driver Mary Williamson, 60, eastbound on Memorial Boulevard, attempted to turn left on East Lake Parker Drive. As she did, a pedestrian crossed in her way, causing her to slow in the path of oncoming westbound traffic. The westbound Mustang, driven by Tammy Reese, 33, of Winter Haven, collided with the rear of the bus. Tammy Reese and 12-year-old Tyler Reese had minor injuries. All were wearing seatbelts.
