White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel will hold a fundraiser for Senate candidate Kendrick Meek Aug. 2 in Washington, the Meek campaign has confirmed—an indication that White House backing for Meek in the Florida Senate race hasn’t wavered.
Meek, facing a tough primary challenge from real estate mogul Jeff Greene, says President Barack Obama is in his corner.
There are not plans yet for Obama to campaign for Meek, but Vice President Joe Biden plans a campaign trip to Florida for Meek, P9olitico has reported.
