What do you think about the plea deal reached in the Debra Lafave case? Was Debra Lafave’s sentencing too lenient or fair?
To Jessie from PA who feels that DEbbie should have her picture posted all over the internet for punishment?????????? You are a stupid idiot and you have no idea of what you are talking about. Get educated stupid ##### who’s brain level is the equivalent of someone who did lots of drugs and as a result half veggie and full blown retarded.
Hope you do not conduct your life the way you truly feel because I sure feel sorry for the people left around your…I’d sure run away
This is beyond ridiculous.-I agree that her first offense was accounted for and she got what the grand jury decided on. however, this pas house arrest for probation violation is so ridiculous. She is a waitress so I am sure that she is in contact constantly with underage people…I am hoping that somewhat she will sue the probation officer who ordered her to quit her job as I am sure that he is not paying her bills.
The justice in this case is applied in such a way that it makes us “american” people look like born-idiots.
Ok heres what i plan to do today… if anyone gets in my way as im driving to the store ill just ram em. then when the police ask me what happened ill tell em i dunno im just bi polar like old ms. debby. then i wont even get in trouble right?
I wish I was 14 years old and, debra my teacher.
Bipolar disorder is unrelated to being a sexual predator. Mood disorders do NOT make one a predator, sexual or otherwise.
Debra should be in prison for a minimum sentence of one year, with more community service mandated after that prison term.
Forgive me for the lateness of my comment. Debra talks about repaying society for her crime. I don’t think that is possible, but I think she could make a valuable contribution in spite of her crime. Very much I would like a book on bipolar syndrome written for a simple person to understand. I would appreciate that. So, Debra, please write that book.
i hate the fact that she got away with wat she did but when u look at the “facts” she is bi-polar watever. she only got away with it from being bi-polar and the fact that the boy and his family wanted to stop the charges. this is rediculous they should have pressed charges against her and put her in jail for ruinning that boys life.
All sexual predators should receive the same consideration and sentence; regardless of gender.
This teacher should receive the same jail time a male would receive. No deals should ever be struck when it comes to our children. The law should be the law and upheld, period.
Lafave is not pretty, she is a digusting child predator.Prison is not always the answer, but Lafave needs to be off the street away from innocent teenage boys. However the young adolesent she chose as her victim will remain in prison within himself for life.Bi-polar is not a reason, only an excuse.I am appaled with the idea of House Arrest. She has the advantage of some freedom.Prison time and sterlization is not an answer, but a possible prevention. If she were a male what would her sentence have been?
As a parent of two daughters that were victims of molestion as young children. This judicial decision for Lafave is repulsive. All child sexual predators should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.Who is protecting our children?
I’m glas to have discovered this board because we’re writing a book about this ever growing problem. “Cool Moms, Hot Teachers, and Our Kids!.. Stop Them In The Name Of Love!” Sadly, it’s a multi-driven scenerio in today’s schools, with kids who look, act, and think like adults, and teachers who look, act, and think like kids. Mom’s let their young girls dress like THEY do.. Boys see this and think it’s OK to approach either one.. We must find a way to help teachers to understand that THEY are NOT kids, and kids are NOT ADULTS..no matter how they appear, seem, or “come-on.!”
We all need to get involved and prevent this. Is Lafave under house arrest or not until her April trial?
There’s a free group on yahoo for those who want to discuss the in’s and out’s of this case.

She got off light. The pictures of her nude should be made public and she should have the pictures posted all over the Internet. That would be some level of punishment.
I am very upset at the verdict. I am a Caucasian female. If it were a man or a Black or Hispanic person who did this, they would be behind bars for years. The justice system in this country is really going downhill.
Your children are not safe!

Ted Bundy was good looking…. Should he have been able to “walk” without serving time too? I am an attractive, young teacher who has no interest in any of my students—- THAT’S SICK!!!! It makes me sick to think that she is setting an example that it’s “NOT SO BAD” to be with a student or any young BOY for that matter!! The teaching profession already is not looked upon as the most “highly regarded” career. Thanks LaFave for helping us out. By the way… I think your husband is pretty darn good looking!! I would be more than satisfied to be with him. I am glad he is available and now has a chance to be with someone he deserves. As a matter of fact, if you are reading this MR. Lafave… I’M available!!......
Her lawyer says she’s too pretty to go to prison, maybe someone should take care of that small problem.
7. There is still over an 80% chance that Debra will go to prison.
Sex offender probation is next to impossible and the completion rate is less than 20%.
4. When I was 14 most of the guys in history class talked about how hot our teacher was and wanted to have sex with her.
5. Up untill last century 14 was middle aged as life expectancy was around 36 years.
6. If your 14 year old son does not have the capacity to make an informed decision about who and when to have sex then your parenting skills are seriously deficient.
1. I personally know over 25 men who are under 30 years old and had the exact same charges as Debra and 90% of them got a better deal than she did. The fact is the only reason she got 10 years of sex offender probation is because of the media. If it were’nt for the media she would only have gotten 5.
2.Anyone who thinks she got off easy doesn’t have the slightest idea of what sex offender probation and being a registered sex offender involves.
3. 99% of the 25 year old people I know
can hardly be called adults.
In deed there are double standards at play. She should have done the time, regardless of her looks. And the boy (although a child) should be taught no to brag about improper conduct. I guess it is his parents duty now to manage the issue with him and help him build his self-image not as a “hero” but as a young man who has all the right to normal relationships with girls his age, and all the obligation and responsibility to show respect for those girls. His image of “woman” may be for now distorted into the idea that a woman is a sex object and not another human being who deserves love and respect. Mrs. Lafave did no only harm the boy but harmed the image of women in the eyes of her students.

So whats the big deal with the verdict. She was guilty and everybody knows it, why put her in prison, house arrest is still punishment. As far as the 14 year old boy is concerned he will get over it. She did not rape or kill anyone or cause physical harm or committ a violent act. There seems to be a double standard as far as men are concerned but that’s this culture we live in. This is probably more widespread then we think, but she got caught. It’s up to all of us to be alert to this kind of behavior and protect our kids from it. Save the prison space for those among us who are violent and true predators upon our children.
I think this case and the hit and run case should both be very much remembered next election…note names now folks so you don’t forget…both these ladies (and i use the term loosely) walked with nothing but inconvenience as a sentence, I am absolutely sure a man would be in jail or more likely prison at this point, and most likely a female who could not afford the right legal help ,and had to depend on a public defender. SHAME ON YOU TAMPA COURTS !!YOU ARE LETTING OUR CHILDREN PAY FAR TOO HIGH A PRICE
This is America! Tampa is in America. Not Europe! We don’t want to see thoes cities. For the matter, they are more advanced, that’s YOUR opinion. If you think that, why not move there? Maybe they can teach you about run-on-sentences.
Mike Sinacore is a coward! He just let the defense have what they want. We all knew she would get off light, without serving time in jail. It’s a shame it was the prosecutor that was the one who wanted it , and made it become that way. If I work hard at a job, I make sure it gets completed. He came this far, and just quit. Sad! No victims here? Her ex-husband’s last name has been stigmatized. At least she can’t profit from this. Not that she was an attractive “model” anyways. She looked goofy in thoes stupid pictures!

She should have been sent to jail….
She is hot but thats not an excuse
Send her to jail to get abused like she abused that kid!
