She says she’s in, again, already.
Democrat Anita de Palma of Clearwater said today that she’s running again in 2010 for the 9th Congressional District seat now held by Republican Gus Bilirakis.
Inspired by her respectable third-place showing (29 percent) on Aug. 26 as a first-time candidate in the Democratic primary for the seat, de Palma predicts even better things for her in two years.
“I didn’t do badly, so this time I’m going to start earlier,” said de Palma, 66, who’s not even closing her 2008 campaign office – and leave it open through 2010.
De Palma is a lifetime activist who served four terms as Florida director of the League of United Latin American Citizens, a voluntary post.
Bill Mitchell of Carrollwood, an employment lawyer who has worked for the Federal Trade Commission, won the primary with 38 percent of the vote, going on to lose to Bilirakis. De Palma also finished behind former Plant City Mayor John Dicks (33 percent).
There was no immediate reaction from Bilirakis’ office.
