Crist Valentine bash: The Rubio sampler

After posting a totally ineffectual ad bashing Marco Rubio over Census counts, the Crist campaign has come up with something that’s actually sort of cute—the “Marco Rubio Valentine’s Day Sampler.”

“Marco Rubio is like a box of chocolates,” said the Crist campaign news release. “You never know what you’re gonna get.”

The “sampler,” a simple jpeg image file, is a picture of a box of Valentine chocolates with pieces themed according to Crist’s criticisms of Rubio. Examples: “The coconut carbon tax—voted for cap and trade legislation”; “Cinnamon spending—wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars as speaker of the Florida House,” and “Toffee tax increases—voted for the largest tax increase in Florida history.”

Who knows what that last one means—for Republican politicians, any tax increase your opponent supported was the largest in history, and any tax cut you supported was the largest in history.

But the simple press release is a lot better than Crist’s latest web ad, viewable on his web site, which was nicely dissected by Mike Thomas in the Orlando Sentinel.

Update: Rubio has a little fun with his response: “Charlie and the Desperation Factory”.
