Gov. Charlie Crist, in an interview today, took a cool wait-and-see attitude toward the possibility being floated by Jeb Bush that the former Florida governor might run for the Senate seat being vacated by Mel Martinez.
Asked about a Bush candidacy, Crist said, “Well, we’ll see what develops. I imagine a lot of people will have interest, and time will tell. These things usually take a little while to sort out. He’s a great Floridian. … I would like to see him do what he wants to do.”
Asked about the possibility he himself will run, Crist said, “I love being the governor of Florida. It’s a great privilege, and to be honest with you, the only things I’m thinking about in the next few weeks are Carole [Rome, his fiancée] and the impending wedding – and Florida.”
