Chiles quitting? His Facebook page counsels eternal optimism

A couple of news agencies are reporting that Bud Chiles is dropping out of the governor’s race—but if that’s true, you wouldn’t know it from his Facebook page, which is loaded up with inspirational quotations about beating the odds and proving the experts wrong.

Yesterday morning, the candidate posted on the page, “When the world says, ‘Give up,’ Hope whispers, ‘Don’t give up, try it one more time.’—Author Unknown.” 

That followed Sunday’s posting: “Let the people decide. I believe we can win. With your help, we can prove the experts wrong again.”
