The streets and sidewalks freshly hosed down, the cups and bottles and trash disposed of properly, the Central Avenue party zone next to Tropicana Field is ready for another round of baseball madness.
But it wasn’t getting it this way.
“The street looked like Ybor City,” another well-known Bay area party zone, said Jeff Tawney, a barback at Ferg’s Bar and Grill.
Tawney worked until 4 a.m. cleaning and sweeping and hauling away the debris outside and surrounding Ferg’s.
“It was a huge party. A huge block party. It was great,” he said. “It was like Gasparilla” – Tampa’s annual pirate invasion festival.
Tawny was back on the job about noon today, ready to go again. Maybe because he’s 27.
The bar crowd already was arriving at Ferg’s, being cooled by the misting machines in the open-air, streetside bar.
Outside, arts and crafts merchants are selling jewelry and assorted art pieces from booths along Central. They soon will be replaced with more beer tubs and a mass of humanity.

Got to get a different kind of sunshine in here.
My prediction, which could be wrong is Boston 2 Rays 0 for tonight.
Have to tease those Rays fans!!
