Former county commissioner and long-time Tampa Democratic stalwart Phyllis Busansky says she’s “strongly considering” running for county elections supervisor in the November elections.
Busanksy, who served as a county commissioner from 1988-96, ran unsuccessfully in 2006 for the U.S. House seat held by Gus Bilirakis, and has also served as director of the state welfare reform board.
Busansky said she has had friends urging her to run.
“The issue is competence and integrity,” she said. “Our elections office makes me fearful. People need to have faith in our votes.”
Busansky mentioned her interest in the race on the Florida This Week political talk show taped this afternoon. It will air tonight and will repeat through the weekend.
