By no means should we let our guard down, but the forecast track for Ike as of 5pm Saturday at least gives us a bit of better news. Ike is now a MONSTER Category 4 storm with winds of 135 mph. Right now, it’s north of the Dominican Republic. With each track from the Hurricane Center and each new set of data from the computer models, we’ve noticed a continuous shift taking this storm farther and farther west. When you see a shift, meaning each track inches it farther one way, you feel a little more confident in that forecast. However, if the track “wobbles” it means that things are still very uncertain.
I say again...we need to take advantage of this beautiful weekend to make sure our hurricane preparations are set and ready to go. As we have all seen, hurricane can be simply unpredictable. With this monster out there even CLOSE to us, we need to be alert.
