We can expect to see warm and increasingly humid weather the next few days as high pressure over the Atlantic keeps things dry and a litttle breezy until Saturday.
Then things get a little interesting and we can start looking for some of the rain we really need, and even maybe some thunderstorms. This is looking like the best chance for rain since the first of the month and it’s spread over a couple of days.
A cool front will head toward us on Saturday but things will be fairly warm and humid that day before it arrives. During the day the weather serivce says there’s a 30 percent chance for showers in Hernado and Citrus and 20 percent from Pasco south starting about 2 p.m.
Then as the front moves across the peninsula, rain chances go to 50 percent in Hernando and Citrus and 40 percent from Pasco south for Saturday night as the squall line moves through. You might find a stray thunderstorm there, too. The chance for thunderstorms begins about sundown on Saturday and lasts through early afternoon on Sunday.
In fact, the weather service says a strong jet stream ahead of the front could turn some of those into potent thunderstorms. The main threat from those would be strong winds.
On Sunday, rain chances shift to 30 percent around the Tampa Bay area and south and 20 percent to the north as the front finally moves through.
