Holly Benson, former state representative and state health administrator, will hold a news conference tomorrow in which she’s expected to announce she’s running for state attorney general.
Benson, from Pensacola, resigned her position as secretary of the state Agency for Health Care Administration two weeks ago, saying she wanted to pursue other opportunities that would preclude her holding that job. She has talked to a number of Republican insiders, including Gov. Charlie Crist, about running for attorney general.
She would be entering a race against Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp, the only prominent Republican running for attorney general.
Benson’s news conference will be at noon on the Escambia County courthouse steps in Pensacola.
