The rain that painted most of the Tampa Bay area with one-quarter to one-half inch—and more in some places—will be pretty much hit or miss through the rest of the day.
An old, stalled front draped over the central part of the state will provide enough lift to combine with heating during the afternoon to pop off some stray showers, especially over areas away from the coast.
That’s doesn’t rule out the chance of you running into some rain on the way home. If you’re heading south, you stand a better chance of seeing some more rain.
The Port Charlotte and Venice areas are about to see some steady, soaking rain this afternoon, the weather service says.
The rain that reached Tampa just before noon about doubled the month’s rainfall at Tampa International Airport. But the rain was spotty, with MacDill Air Force Base getting less than 0.1 inch, and Lakeland was shut out.
The remains of the front should linger at least part of Tuesday and give another chance of rain, but not as much of a chance as today brought.
