As usual in July, forecasters expect thunderstorms to form late in the morning or early in the afternoon and keep showing up through the evening.
There also could be some strong thunderstorms showing up with hail and gusty winds. The weather service doesn’t anticipate the storms will move much, meaning they’ll dump plenty of rain where they form. Any movement would be a slow drift toward the northwest or north.
There should be less chance for thunderstorms, though, right along the coast.
Until 10 a.m., the weather service is warning, mostly boaters, about a line of thunderstorms in the Gulf from Clearwater to Sanibel Island.
The most potent storm is in a line about five miles from Dunedin to St. Pete Beach. The storms stretch up to 60 miles from Venice and 50 miles from Sanibel.
