AAA is warning motorists to prepare for a runup in gas prices as spring approaches.
The auto club says gas prices could escalate to $3.75 a gallon this spring as U.S. oil refineries temporarily shut down for maintenance and switch over from winter blends to summer blends.
The annual shift usually causes a price spike, said Randy Bly a spokesman for AAA Auto Club South.
Gas prices now in Florida average $3.25 a gallon. That compares to $2.48 a gallon a year ago.
