A fundraiser last weekend at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium raised $10,000 for a fund to pay for the education of the son of a fallen soldier, according to the home of Winter the dolphin.

Army Staff Sgt. Matthew Steven Sitton, 26, who died in August after stepping on an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan, had been planning to visit the aquarium with his wife and young son.

According to a press release:

On Saturday, his wish came true as his wife Sarah Sitton and 10-month-old son Brodey met Winter as a crowd of spectators watched and joined in celebrating Matthew’s life. CMA volunteers were on hand to collect donations and $2.00 of each CMA general admission was donated to Brodey Sitton’s education fund. Staff Sgt. Sitton is survived by his parents Cheryl and Steve Sitton, his wife Sarah and his son Brodey. Clearwater Marine Aquarium is dedicated to the Sitton family and will continue efforts to support the family on an ongoing basis.

The E-Bay auction of the Guy Harvey painting will continue for seven days at: http://bit.ly/OAy9ni

Donations may also be made online at http://bit.ly/QSN3As or made to Brodey Sitton and mailed to the following:
