From Billy Townsend: In discussing last week’s election results, U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam, R-Bartow, lamented that several important GOP saw flagging support from several constituencies, including “white Rednecks.” The Hotline political blog has a full rundown on what he said and how it’s being received.
Putnam is a candidate to become the House Republicans’ conference chair, the third highest-ranking position for the minority party. That vote is scheduled for today. Putnam is widely considered to have a good chance of winning. It’s unclear if these comments will hamper him.
