I’m Scott Newman, Apple Fanboy, siting in line at International Mall for the iPhone 3G launch. It’s 9:21 and I’ve been here for just over an hour.
I decided to come over and take part because I’ve never waited all night for anything. (and my wife is out of town) I’ve been looking forward to getting a new iPhone since the “new phone smell” wore of my existing iPhone and I realized that web browsing was intolerably slow on the AT&T Edge network. (for non-techies, it’s slow like a dial-up Internet connection)
I’m number 4 in line, behind Kolin (a blogger and student), Gerard (also a blogger and student), and Chandler (a college-bound student).
Kolin has been here since noon to have the notariety of being #1.
The mood is jovial and friendly, not unlike a laid back folk rock concert. (with computers) We’re making plans to make Wal-Mart and food runs for each other; we’ll see how friendly everyone is around 3am.
To keep in the spirit of the event, I’m planning to send all these updates from my existing iPhone.
