What did bloggers do the past several months without Katherine Harris in the picture?
She resurfaced yesterday at a church summit in Brandon, and we published some photos of her and the other attendees. (The day before, we also published photos of a protest by Equality Florida outside the church.)
Infamous people usually return from these post-landslide interludes looking ‘tanned and rested,’ but that label doesn’t work here. Harris looks exactly the same - not even a new hairdo to ease the sting of defeat. Likewise, the scathing comments of bloggers have not lost their edge. Here’s Blast Off! and Pushing Rope, both choosing the headline ‘She’s Back,’ though ‘Blast Off’ adds a few A’s for effect. And of course, our own March on Politics was there, gathering comments from Harris on her ‘unanswered prayers’ and how much she enjoys - you guessed it - spending time with her family.
Blogs are all well and good, of course, but I think the Harris affair will gain a whole new life when it is re-aired in an older, more ponderous medium: books! Harris wouldn’t tell March about ‘a book she said at the end of her campaign she was writing and close to finishing,’ so my guess is that it is not a political memoir, but something else entirely, perhaps a children’s picture book, a sci-fi epic, or a bodice-ripper. Some of her staffers were reportedly writing tell-all books about the campaign, too, so keep watching Amazon.
