Are you a veteran thinking about college?
The University of Phoenix is holding a military open-house in Tampa tonight.
Aimed at those returning from Afghanistan and Iraq looking to further their education, the open-house is designed to help veterans make a smooth transition back to civilian life, school officials say.
The open-house runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the University of Phoenix Westshore Learning Center, 4805 W Independence Pkwy.
The university created a special Military Division committed to helping members of the military community obtain the education they need to either prepare for a civilian career or advance their military career, according to a university press release. At the event, University of Phoenix Military Division staff and faculty will share important information with military members covering topics such as:
• Troops to Teachers initiative;
• GI Bill;
• Tuition assistance;
• Scholarships available to service members, their families, and veterans;
• Benefits for military families available through the Red Cross and YMCA;
• How to access a wide variety of educational opportunities through University of Phoenix and more.
