Police promote two people involved with RNC security

Tampa police are promoting John Newman to Assistant Chief of Investigations and Support. He had two years commanding District II.

“The 26-year-veteran will now utilize his expertise to help the department in its final preparations of the Republican National Convention,” a Tampa Police Department news release states.

To fill Newman’s place as District II major, the department is promoting Brian Dugan, who plays a vital role in security for the RNC.
