Tampa officials announced today they will eliminate 236 positions, including 121 from layoffs in response to property tax rollbacks and revenue cuts. See more here.

The manuver is as old as the hills-first we eliminate all the positions that were left open-just think of the monies we save on vacancies. Then we offer alower paying job to those who have been out of a job-or we get novices who willtake much lower pay so they can build up their resumes.We do not care about making some having to sell their houses,have someone sick in the family but busted their butts to do a good job for the city. I could go on and on but I will not.
