Alex Sink is, well, petite, but still seems quite ready to take on the governator of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who trashed Florida yesterday.
At a Silicon Valley conference, Schwarzenegger glibly opined that Iowa is uninteresting, Florida is nothing but old people, and who’d want to go to either place?
“No matter where you go in the world, people still want to come to California,” Schwarzenegger said.
On the other hand, “Like one state is known for its potatoes; one state is known for its oil,” Schwarzenegger said, “and another state like Florida is known for the old people.”
Well, also Disney World. Which, MOP feels compelled to note, is bigger than Disney Land. And we all know size matters, right Ahnuld?
Sink, a mere 5"6”, wasn’t crass enough to point that out to Mr. Large from California. Although she wasn’t above mentioning the age-old tout Florida politicians always deliver, no state income tax.
“It seems that Florida, one of the most beautiful, diverse, and business friendly states in the nation, with no state income tax, has intimidated the “Governator” - given that his state may be best known for its high taxes and ballooning deficits” (zing!), she said.
“I invite Governor Schwarzenegger to take a trip to the Sunshine State and see firsthand what brings people of all ages and cultures to visit and settle in Florida.”
