On the eve of the election, a new candidate has joined the face for chairman of the local Republican Party—Chris Shalosky, a retired U.S. Army colonel who’s active in local tea party and 9-12 groups.
Party Vice Chairman Art Wood and former state committeewoman Carol Carter are already running for the post. The winner will replace Deborah Cox-Roush, who’s leaving the job to take a staff position with the Herman Cain presidential campaign.
Shalosky, who teaches part-time in a Defense Department program to train military acquisition officers, has been president of the Fishhawk Republican Club for three years.
He said his goal as chairman is to “be a bridge-builder” to assure inclusion of tea party and 9-12 groups in party activities.
The election will take place at tomorrow night’s meeting of the county GOP executive committee.
