Adam Hasner, who has been getting backing lately from some top GOP fundraisers, continued that today, announcing that Brent Sembler, Bill “Hoe” Brown and Peter Collins of the Tampa Bay area have joined the campaign.
Sembler, vice president of The Sembler Company, has one of the nation’s most prominent GOP financial names—he’s the son of former Ambassador Mel Sembler, a St. Petersburg shopping center developer and long-time national-level GOP fundraiser, and in recent years has become increasingly active on his own in state politics.
Brown, a real estate developer and investor from Tampa, has been active for years in local and state politics.
Peter Collins, former manager of the State Board of Administration, which oversees the Florida government employees’ pension fund, is a founder of Forge Capital Partners, a Tampa-based investment banking firm.
Sembler, Brown and Collins all are also backers of the Romney presidential campaign.
Hasner’s initial campaign fundraising, during the second quarter of this year, was unimpressive, about $560,000 compared to $950,000 for his most prominent opponent, George LeMieux.
Since state Senate President Mike Haridopolos dropped out of the race, however, Hasner has added substantial muscle to his fundraising team.
