The Republican National Committee on Tuesday unveiled its official logo for the 2012 Convention, which features a three-stared red, white and blue flag – symbolizing equality, justice and opportunity – and the party’s traditional mascot, the elephant.
The party has also re-launched its official Convention Website.
In a press release, RNC Convention Chief Executive Officer William D. Harris lauded the new logo and website as “milestones” in the run-up to next year’s convention, when the party will pick a nominee to challenge President Barack Obama in November’s election.
“The elephant – the proud and strong symbol of the Republican Party – with his trunk pointed toward 2012 reflects the spirit, unity and strength of our Party as we plan a successful 2012 Republican National Convention that enables us to march toward victory next November,” Harris wrote in the release.
The logo was designed by Marcia Brown of M/Brown Creative from Alexandria, Virginia. Brown is a GOP campaign veteran who worked on the Republican National Committee, McCain-Palin 2008, and the past seven conventions, party officials said in the release.
The convention will be held in downtown Tampa the week of Aug. 27, 2012.
