The 2012 Republican National Convention today announced the selection of an Orlando-based company to manage transportation services for next August’s convention.
SP Plus Gameday was responsible for transportation management services for Super Bowl XLIII played at Raymond James Stadium in 2009, the 2008 NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four played at the St. Pete Times Forum and the 1999 NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four played at Tropicana Field.
“SP Plus Gameday’s global transportation management experience was an important factor in our selection, but it is their recent work in the Tampa Bay area that was critically important to us as we make our preparations to nominate the next President of the United States in the St. Pete Times Forum next August,” convention Chief Executive Officer William Harris in a press release. “They are clearly a first round draft pick.”
From press release:
SP Plus Gameday will contract, both locally and regionally, and manage a fleet of 300 modern, air-conditioned buses that will carry 5000 delegates, alternate delegates and guests between the estimated 95 official convention hotels in the Tampa Bay area and the convention site. Equipped with advanced navigation and communications technology, the fleet will be both efficient and convenient for convention-goers.
