Rays attendance: Lows still low, but so are highs

Rays attendance chart

Take a look at the peaks and valleys on our Rays attendance tracker and you’ll see a problem: By this time last year, the Rays had drawn crowds that reached a sellout or just below it six times.

This year, it has happened just once, and that was the home opener.

There has been a big difference in the attendance peaks, then. But the valleys remain about the same: Seven games by this time last year had attendance of 14,000 or less. This year, that has happened six times.

See more game-by-game comparisons at our attendance tracker, by clicking here. And you can read Mike Sasso’s report today on TV audience vs. game attendance, “More fans glued to TVs than stadium seats,” by clicking here.

The numbers are important as the Rays begin a push for a new stadium. Read Mike’s report on the latest from this front, “Rays won’t limit site search,” by clicking here.
