Putnam lines up with Romney

Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam has endorsed Mitt Romney in the GOP presidential primary, making him the first statewide elected Republican to take sides in the race.

For Romney, the endorsement is another step in lining up establishment support from big-name Republicans in early states, an attempt to have him seen as the consensus candidate heading into the primary season.

Florida has five Republicans who hold offices voted by all voters in the state—Gov. Rick Scott, Sen. Marco Rubio and three Cabinet members including Putnam.
