Republican Rep. Adam Putnam of Bartow, along with Democrats Alcee Hastings of Miramar and Ron Klein of Boca Raton, will accompany top House leaders on a trip to Israel to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the nation’s founding.
Putnam is the House GOP conference chairman, the third-ranking Republican. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland will lead the 13-member delegation leaving later today and arriving in Israel Friday.
The delegation will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, President Shimon Peres, Speaker of the Knesset Dalia Itzik, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni. The group’s first stop will be at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem.
