The always-provocative blog Pushing Rope invites you to be a part of the rumor mill. Here’s the speculation: Will Sen. Mel Martinez, newly appointed head of the Republican National Committee, give up his Senate seat, making way for new governor Charlie Crist to nominate departing Gov. Jeb Bush? This theory apparently came from someone at DailyKos, who heard it from a friend’s brother’s wife’s cousin, who heard it from… and so on.
What do you think of this potential Republican shuffle? Earlier, many observers negative reviews to the Mel sideshow, saying no one should try to combine both jobs. Doomed Generation says he can’t count on staying in the Senate anyway. But I’m with Pushing Rope - anyone who watched the Bill Nelson vs. Katherine Harris race would know Jeb could have won a Senate seat already if he wanted one.

Having known Gov. Bush since 1983, I can attest to his interest in executive power only. He would hate being part of a collegial body in which he would have, to start, a single vote.
