Outside the gates of the Florida State Fairgrounds, protestors are starting to gather as media and event organizers prepare for tonight’s republican presidential debate.
Allison Brown, a political science major at the University of South Florida, said she came out to protest the GOP candidates’ positions on social issues, particularly on abortion.
“I don’t want anyone telling me what to do with my body,” she said.
Eric Waite, a construction worker, said he is concerned about jobs and came out to show his support for President Barack Obama’s jobs bill, which is expected to criticized by the candidates at tonight’s debate.
“We need to give it a chance to work,” said Waite, who was joined by members of the groups Awake the State and Fight Back Florida. “We don’t need more failed republican ideas.”
