Gov. Charlie Crist’s support of President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus plan doesn’t appear to have harmed him in the eyes of Republican voters in Florida, according to a new poll, even though he has encountered a severe backlash among GOP elected officials and party activists.
In the Quinnipiac University poll, Crist continued to get the high approval ratings he’s had throughout his tenure as governor so far—67 percent of respondents approved of his performance.
The figure also stayed high among Republicans, of whom 71 percent said they approve of Crist’s performance in office. That’s little different from the 72 percent who said the same in a a January version of the same poll, although it’s dropped slightly from 78 percent in November.
Obama himself got 64 percent approval ratings in the poll for his performance in office, and 69 percent said they have a favorable opinion of him. A majority, 56 percent, said they favor the stimulus package.
They split almost evenly, however, when asked whether it will help solve the nation’s economic problems—51 percent said they’re very or somewhat confident it will, and 49 percent said not too confident or not confident at all.
Here’s the full poll.

This just shows how out of touch and ignorant are the vast majority of voters in Florida. Crist has done NOTHING to address the critical problems of Florida, namely property taxes and insurance. He went on a taxpayer funded luxury junket to Europe with his girlfriend and entourage. Now he’s begging for further federal government control over our lives (the money doesn’t come without strings attached). Smilin’ Charlie is a LOSER.
