WASHINGTON – An early sample of the national media scrutiny on Gov. Charlie Crist and his personal life if he is tapped as John McCain’s vice presidential running mate will be offered in this Sunday’s New York Times Magazine.
Greg Mitchell, of Editor & Publisher, writes today (here) in the newspaper industry magazine that “all those old rumors that the longtime bachelor may be gay have gained new currency—along with reports about Crist dating several women.”
Mitchell specifically points to this Sunday’s New York Times Magazine, in which he says writer Deborah Solomon “coyly sort of raises that issue at the very end.”
As depicted by Mitchell, the magazine has Solomon kicking off an interview with Crist by stating: “‘Your personal life is not that of a typical Republican candidate. For starters, I hear you’re’—wait for it—‘not a property owner.’”
Crist replies, “It is true. I do not own property.”
Solomon then moves on to, “‘You were married nearly 30 years ago, but the marriage lasted less than a year. Do you prefer’—wait for it—‘living alone?’”
Crist is quoted as saying, “I got married and divorced because it didn’t work out. I haven’t found the right one since.”
“Of course, the use of the word “one” may be parsed for days,” suggests Mitchell.
Finally, he reports that Solomon asks Crist: “You can’t find one woman in all of Florida?”
“Maybe I have. Stay tuned,” Crist is reported to have told Solomon.
Mitchell goes on to report that earlier in the article, Crist claims he is a “common-sense Republican.”
When told people say he will be remembered as much for his tan as for his accomplishments, Crist reportedly says, “that’s very flattering,” hastening to add that he does not use self-tanning lotion, ‘it’s the sun”—and his Greek heritage.

At least one reporter is looking into Crist’s relationship with longtime friend and fundraiser Gerard A. Growney, a St. Petersburg realtor. The St. Petersburg Times has already reported on accusations that Growney exploited an elderly Alzheimer’s patient. Growney, court records show, also has a history of alcohol abuse and battery of women.

This is one of the reasons why people don’t want to run for public office.
What is the purpose of this article? To prove or disprove he is gay?
Somehow I don’t think Crist is gay. But what if he is.
I think he is doing a good job as Govenor and it is up to McCain whether he is the right man for VP.
Maybe McCain is gay to and they would make a good pair.
Ask the New York Times.

This is what happens when a politician supports a politically incorrect concept such as drilling on the continental shelf. Governor Crist will now be vilified by the media. It happens every time.

Mark this in your book!!! McCain wins presidency, Crist is VP and McCain passes away in his first year in office (maybe second) Crist will be PREZ, and all the muckery will come out!!! So take that! I am not voting this year and I refuse to vote for either candidate. I am totally dissapointed with both choices. So what if Crist is GAY…..who cares, I would laugh my ##### off at all of the conservative Gun toting Repulicans for putting McCain into office in the first place. There is something to be said for a man that can’t lift his arms or move his face when he speaks(yeah, yeah, I know about the war injury) but please, he is to old…..and Obama, well…............don’t even get me started.

Apparently the person who said he is a good govenor does not work for the State of Florida. Ask how may state employees have been layed off in the last month. And while your at it, ask how much of a raise state employees are receiving this year… Answer: $0.00 unless you are a state trooper.
Oh, I can’t put my name because I am a state employee and I fear retaliation for voicing my opinion
