Mulhern headed to Cuba

She won’t be on the first flight, but Tampa City Councilwoman Mary Mulhern is headed to Cuba.

Mulhern, who traveled to Cuba with a delegation of business leaders two years ago, said today she will take a flight to the Caribbean island country on Friday to meet up with a group that will be on the first flight in 51 years, which departs Tampa today.

In a press release, Mulhern said she would also be meeting with Cuban officials to discuss trade and humanitarian issues.

“Now more than ever, Tampa must re-establish its unique historic relationship with Cuba in order for the economic development benefits - jobs - that travel and trade with our nearest foreign neighbor present,” Mulhern said in the release.
